Tripot Joint/Tripod Ball – Constant velocity joint

Hartford Technologies' bearing experts have cooperated with famous first-tier companies in automobile and off-road vehicles to design and manufacture mass-produced tripod joint components.

The three-ball CV (constant velocity) universal joint is used for the inner end of the drive shaft or half shaft.

Although the angle changes, it can still transmit uniform torque and constant speed, thus achieving consistent power transmission. The three-point joint assembly has needle bearing rollers mounted on the three-piece yoke. They are installed in a cup with a matching groove, which is connected to the differential. The rollers are mounted at an angle of 120 ° to each other and slide back and forth on the rails in the housing. A typical three-point constant velocity joint has an insertion stroke of up to 50 mm and an angle articulation of 26 °.

Hartford Technologies has an efficient and cost-effective manufacturing process for these key components, which is unique in the industry. Cut the blank from 52100 (GCr15) high carbon chromium alloy steel pipe, and then grind it to the specified outer diameter, inner diameter and width. The tolerance is usually tight (diameter and width are+/-. 0001), because a set of rollers fits the inner diameter, while the outer diameter is located in the cup with matching grooves.

Finished parts are hardened to Rockwell C 60-65, with excellent compressive strength and high ductility. Then polish the Tripot CV joint parts to a high surface finish. Hartford Technologies manufactures a variety of sizes of three-way constant velocity joint assemblies, usually with an outside diameter in the range of 1 "to 4".
